Starting Up Your Device | Trezor® Setup Guide

Welcome to Trezor®

Trezor® is one of the most trusted hardware wallets for safely storing your cryptocurrencies. By keeping your private keys offline, Trezor offers protection against malware, phishing, and online hacks. Whether you're new to crypto or an experienced user, this guide will help you set up your device correctly via the official Trezor site: https://trezor.io/start.

What You’ll Need

  • Your Trezor hardware wallet (Model One or Model T)
  • A computer with internet access
  • USB cable (included in the box)
  • A pen and paper to write down your recovery seed

Step-by-Step Setup Instructions

  1. Visit Trezor.io/Start®: Navigate to trezor.io/start. This is the official and safest starting point for your Trezor setup. Select your Trezor model to continue.
  2. Download and install Trezor Suite: Trezor Suite is the official desktop app for managing your wallet. Download it for Windows, macOS, or Linux and install it on your computer.
  3. Connect your Trezor device: Use the provided USB cable to connect your device to your computer. Open Trezor Suite and wait for the device to be detected.
  4. Install firmware: New devices ship without firmware for security reasons. Follow the prompt to install the latest firmware. Always verify the firmware on your device screen.
  5. Create a new wallet: Once the firmware is installed, choose "Create a new wallet." If you’re restoring a wallet, select “Recover wallet” and follow the instructions.
  6. Backup your recovery seed: Your device will display a 12- or 24-word recovery seed. Write it down carefully and store it offline in a secure location. Never share or upload this seed anywhere.
  7. Set a PIN: Choose a secure PIN on your device. This protects your wallet if your device is lost or stolen.
  8. Access your dashboard: After setup, you’ll be redirected to the Trezor Suite dashboard. From here, you can send, receive, and manage over 1,000 supported cryptocurrencies.

Security Best Practices

  • Only use the official Trezor site: trezor.io/start
  • Never share your recovery seed or enter it on any website or computer
  • Store your recovery seed offline (paper or metal backup recommended)
  • Enable additional passphrase protection for hidden wallets
  • Double-check your receiving addresses directly on the Trezor device
